Bob was born in Independence, Missouri. Despite the fact he claims to be from Kansas, he was raised in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from North Kansas City High School. He went on to graduate from the University of Kansas with a degree in History.
After graduation Bob secured a job with the federal government. He worked in offices in Kansas City, MO; Kansas City, KS; Parsons, KS; Austin, TX; and Washington, D.C.. Bob retired after 30 years of service in September, 2002.
Bob met Sharon at the National Square dance Convention in Memphis, Tennessee. After a long distance romance they were married November 1, 1991. Sharon moved from her home in Chattanooga, TN to live with Bob in Fairfax, VA. After retirement Bob and Sharon moved to their current home in Young Harris, GA.
Since retirement Bob has worked part time. For the past year and a half he has worked as a desk clerk at the Ramada at Lake Chatuge.
